BACH TO DANCE
Ballet “Barocco” in choreography of Jacek Przybyłowicz with Jan Sebastian Bach music was a main reason for applause. We should add that performance was realized to a special order of Lyon’s Festival.
French critic of "Le Nouvel Observateur" has called performance “authentic, happy discovery”. Choreographer himself declared that was always inspired by baroque’s music, especially by works of J.S. Bach. We could see Polish premiere of his ballet in Opera House in Poznań, and admire ingenious composition of contemporary dance movement with ornamental and stylistic addition of court’s aesthetic. “Barocco” does not tell a story, has not got any literally origin. Combined from six scenes – pictures draws for audience its associations. For instance, with alive bas-relief of baroque’s figures unraveling on the stage their relationships and combining them in a new configurations. All of this we watch in dynamic and plastic symbiosis of ballet ensemble with charming perfection. We admire masterly skills of artists whose bodies give a feeling of plastic figures which have any limitations. I am not surprised that “Barocco” of Przybyłowicz has met in Lyon with an ovation lasting many minutes.
