DANCE IN EUROPE
Ewa Wycichowska set task for a young creators on the topic “I’m entering”, that could be understood in a different ways, not only in a current and trendy meaning in Poland. In spite of a youth of authors it can have a meaning of entering into a world of particular art, art of dance, choreography, stage design or music. It can also indicate obligatory participation in activity, in creation which requires responsibility supported not only by an intuition, but by a deep knowledge. I am convinced that young authors and performers of “Enter”, which premiere took place in Opera House in Poznań, has also though about their understanding of symbolic “enter”.
Co-operation of three choreographers (Anna Kołek – Karalus, Deborah Light. Andrzej Adamczak) with artists from Academy of Fine Art, people from the world of a theatre, music and performers is a conversation with symbols and idioms known mainly for them. There is in it some freshness and novelty.
Among proposed images I was struck by history constructed by Deborah Light (graduate of an excellent Laban Center in London). Compact, consequent, with an intriguing music, movement and expression of performers. Restriction of means nad techniques gave for an image deep significance and attractive but gloomy atmosphere.
