Concept and Choreography: Ewa Wycichowska Directorial collaboration: Lech Raczak Music: Ludwig van Beethoven, Zbigniew Łowżył Costumes: Jola Załecka Stage Design: Wojciech Pawliczuk Premiere: 25.09.1997 Duration: 60 minut
Impressionistic, full of allusions and a picture of grotesque imagination, it does not attempt to be a fictitious story about the fate of an emigrant writer or of his heroes, leaving the spectators with complete freedom of interpretation. The internal themes, the clash between what is private and the world of artistic forms, the building of Gombrowiczian citations with the help of signs or single quotes, is not the result of a compromise between literature and the language of dance. Ewa Wycichowska 'does not translate Gombrowicz into ballet' but reads him together with her performers in the climate of the pervading subjectivity and atmosphere on the turn of the centuries.
The Polish Dance Theatre was awarded the Fotel Leona prize at the 2001 Festival of Theatre in Zielona Gora for the performance Transss…
Everything is a game, a convention imprisoning us…I don't remember that I ever witnessed such a striking and intelligent performance.
